So, how does Tripelli work?
The way the site works is better described in the four questions following this one, but essentially Tripelli is intended to act as a simple marketplace where Guests can contact Homeowners and arrange bookings and payments directly, without any involvement from the site. In other words, the way the rental market operated until recently. We guarantee to never introduce Direct Bookings, we'll never build Chinese Walls (or Data Curtains) intended to stop the Guest and Homeowner communicating directly.
Tripelli is owned and operated by four Homeowners who are determined to return more control and by implication, more income, back into the hands of Homeowners. We feel so strongly about the injustice of the actions of Homeaway/VRBO/Owners Direct that we have each put up a substantial sum of money in order to fund the design and development and online advertising of Tripelli. But perhaps more importantly, we persuaded other Homeowners, who felt equally disenfranchised, to invest in the site in order to boost the funding which will be needed for the advertising campaigns that we'll begin running in 2017.
You'll frequently read online that the rental market is going the way of Direct Bookings and largely on the basis of the Guest wanting the ability to book their rental accommodation the way they would book a Hotel. From our experience, the only people saying this have a vested interest in this approach. And, if you have a Property listed with Homeaway/VRBO you'll undoubtedly have noticed that enquiries have dropped dramatically since the big sites introduced Direct Booking and other changes/charges. So it would appear, at least anecdotally, that Guests don't like the costs associated with the Direct Booking model, either.
So, if you don't like what's happening with the other listing sites, then please give us a go. As an introductory offer, Homeowners who list their properties on the site will get the service for
FREE until July 2018
. So, sign up with us now and you can list your Property at no cost to you until July 2018. We're not asking you to make a long term commitment, so if you find that Tripelli doesn't help your business, then you can leave at any time.
So, what have you got to lose?
How is Tripelli different from Homeaway, VRBO, Owners Direct, etc?
Tripelli was set up in response to the business practices introduced by the big corporate rental sites during 2016. If you're here reading this, then it's safe to assume that you'll know what they are!
The whole purpose of this site is to provide Homeowners with a cheaper viable alternative to the major sites, but more specifically, to put control and communication back in the hands of both Homeowners and Guests. We're not about profit, but at the same time we're also not a charity. The site will be
always be FREE to Guests
and for a limited time we're offering the service for
FREE to Homeowners until July 2018.
We want the site to operate 'something' like how the industry used to work before all the consolidation took place. So,
No Direct Bookings
No Chinese Walls
between Homeowners and Guests. Tripelli is, and always will be, fully transparent. You might call our approach one of Old School Holiday Rentals.
What's your Business Model?
Tripelli is funded by a diverse group of small investors who are largely Homeowners themselves.
The founding principles are for the site to be FREE to Guests and for us to keep Homeowner subscription fees as low as possible. Based on this approach, we don't expect to see any return on investment for three or more years.
Tripelli is not a 'Sprat to catch a Mackerel' scheme. We're simply Homeowners attempting to wrest some control away from the big multinational listing sites.
Why should I list my Property on Tripelli?
Firstly, let's look at the negatives. Tripelli is a new site and therefore Enquiries and Bookings are going to be thin on the ground in the early months. Also, it's going to take you between 10 and 15 minutes to set up your Property on the site. That's the downside covered.
On the upside, if you sign up and list your proprety now, the service will be free until next year and you'll then have the choice of whether to continue to list on the site, or not. Your Property will gain greater exposure on the web, and in the short to medium term at no cost to you. The only investment you'll need to put into the listing is the 10 or 15 minutes it initially takes you to set up the Property on the site. Also, as you have the facility to include your own site's URL with your Property listing, then your site will receive credit for the link with the search engines.
After listing your Property, you can cancel and walk away whenever you wish. We're not asking for a long term commitment, we're simply asking you to give the site a go. After all, it's in the interest of all Homeowners for Tripelli to succeed.
What's the cost of listing my Property on the Site?
At the risk of repeating what's been said above, If you're an early adopter on the site and sign up soon, then the listing for one or more Properties will be
100% FREE until 30th June 2018
. After that, if you choose to stay with Tripelli, you'll switch over to a standard flat fee Annual Subscription, which we anticipate will cost around £165 per year.
Do I pay any Commission on my rentals?
No, we do not, and will never, charge commission. We will also never introduce any form of Direct booking. As Homeowners ourselves, we are comitted to giving Homeowners and their Guests a fair deal. Tripelli has been designed to allow for direct contact between Homeowners and Guests.
How do Guests contact Homeowners?
Prospective guests will contact you via the
on your Property's listing page. We will then forward an email onto you containing the guests contact information, their preferred dates and guest numbers. Once you have received the enquiry email from us, Tripelli will no longer be involved in the booking process and any arrangements you make with the guest. It's worth mentioning that the Homeowner's email address is never displayed on the site.
How are properties promoted on Tripelli?
Over the coming months we'll carry out extensive Search Engine Marketing and we employ external consultants to perform our Marketing for Tripelli. We promote our website with the most competitive search terms in the industry. All future income generated by the site will be ploughed back into advertising and site development.

How do I protect myself against Fraudulent Enquiries?
We record the IP addresses of all Guests and Homeowners who use the Tripelli, but Homeowners should always be vigilant when it comes to security. Some important things to keep in mind so as to reduce the chance of frauduelnt activity:
- An email with grammatically incorrect English should be viewed as suspect
- An email request asking you to deposit money or anything related to a bank transfer
- An email request with no a bogus number, or any other suspect details.
- Be aware that emails from Tripelli will never ask you to reveal or confirm your password, or any other information

Before the time of renewal, we'll email you to discuss the performance of your listing on the site. You can make the decision whether to sign up for the renewal, or not. We do not automatically renew Property Subscriptions on expiry.
If you represent a Management Company and want to upload a large number of properties, then contact us to discuss your needs. Our email address is email@example.com.
